Dodge City — Golden Tee 2020

By • Category: Dodge City • • Leave a Comment (0)

Here are some early screenshots of the course!  Here is the official preview of the new 2020 Kansas course.

In America’s heartland sits a golf course from another era—a place where a forgotten time blends together with state-of-the-art course design to create a Golden Tee course unlike any crafted before it. It is the Kansas you’ve never seen or known: majestic farmland that provides an unmistakable openness, breeding shot-making of the utmost kind.

Barns, cattle and the always-feared dusty dirt have a home on Dodge City, which antique obstacles, while sparse and selectively scattered about, will call upon every club in your bag. Although the course is tough to locate on a map, you’ll know when you’re there.

Here is a 6-hole preview and discussion from the Golden Tee lounge!  And here are the next 6 holes.

GT Par is most commonly -xx to -yy here, with the dependent setups on #a and #b.

This post contains tips, tricks, and information related to the 2020 Golden Tee course Dodge City! Check out the hole-by-hole breakdowns and example hole-outs as I partner up with the Golden Tee community to give you the edge you need to beat your friends!

The GTF club set of choice will be posted below, with the preferred ball being x for advanced players and y for casual players.

Dodge City — Hole #1: Par 4

This opening par 4 is sometimes drivable.  There’s a close tee box where you can take straight aim at the green…here’s a high-teed driver that cleared the dirt to bounce up and in.

Other tee boxes give you a chance to curl a C3 driver up close to the green for a chip or putt, as long as you avoid the dirt!

There is a very rare setup where power hitters have a chance to drive this green.

From this tee box, a high-teed 5W cleared the tree right at the green to find the hole.

From the left fairway, here’s an 8-wood hole-out.

This medium-teed 5-wood cleared the building easily, using bite for the ace.

With a tailwind, a medium-teed 6-wood normally has enough to clear the building so backspin will hold the green.  This 6-wood had some curve and caught the top of the roof but still bounced down and in!

After a drive to the left edge of the fairway, this driver approach had just enough to find the cup.

Here’s a 4-wood ace to a right pin.

And here’s an 8-wood thumbed right over the top to a left pin.

Here’s a high-teed 5W right over everything to a back pin.

With a front pin tucked behind the barn, this one gets trickier.  Headwinds make it easier to drop one right over top, like this high-teed 5-wood.

You might not need as much loft as you think — this medium-teed 4-wood clears to a front-right pin.

Even if you’re short, you might get a friendly bounce off the roof!

If you can find a way to carry over to the second fairway, it’s a great option that gives you a nice look at the green in two.  Here’s a 3-hybrid hole-out from the right-side of the fairway.

Another good option is to play to the dirt straight ahead towards the hole, to the right of the gallows.  Blast out as far as you can, and you should have plenty of club to get there in two.  Here’s a 3-wood hole-out from there.

Here’s an ace with the 6-wood.

With a strong wind blowing right, this driver was able to take aim to the left of the green to avoid the obstacles and find the cup.  And this driver played more carry over the crates to find the hole.

With a strong tailwind, this 5-wood with backspin carries over the top to find the hole.
